     Dr. Patrick Franklin Flaherty, 73, of Peoria, passed away at Kindred Specialty Hospital in Peoria on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 6:10 p.m.
     A memorial celebration of Dr. Pat’s life will be on Sunday, November 13, 2011 at 3 p.m. at Clary Funeral Home, 3004 W. Lake Avenue in Peoria. There is no visitation.
     Dr. Pat was born in Danville, IL on December 30, 1937, a son of Franklin H. and Joan Virginia (Huttsell) Flaherty. He married Marta Hanstra on February 14, 1958 in Danville.
     He is survived by his wife of 53 years, 5 daughters, Nanette (Daniel) Malloy and Rebecca Lynn (the late Mark) Salaway, both of Fort Wayne, IN, Patricia (Steven) Tarrence of Centralia, MO, Erin Flaherty of Peoria and Tawnie Guthman of Morton, 9 grandchildren, Abby, Jake, Hannah, and Matthew Malloy, Thom, Libby, and Annie Salaway and Nathan and Ryan Tarrence and one great grandson on the way, Preston Matthew Tarrence.
     He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jamie Ann Flaherty, two infant grandsons, Justin Patrick Tarrence and Isaac Daniel Malloy, his parents and brother, Dennis George Flaherty.
     Dr. Pat was Director of the Southside Mission in Peoria for 13 years, retiring in 2002. He was President of Manna Outreach Ministries from 2009 until present. He served as pastor for 25 years in the Central Illinois Conference of the United Methodist Church. He was very active in the communities he served by participating on numerous boards and committees, one of them being, Methodist Medical Center.
     Dr. Pat and his loving wife have attended the Assembly of God Church in Peoria for the past 5 years. He was a Godly man, loving husband, father and grandfather. Some of his favorite hobbies were bass fishing, archeology digs in Israel, spending time with his family and being of service in his community.
